On this Earth Day I felt deeply moved from the heart to share the illuminations, grief, gratitude, alchemy & treasures from our “FEMININE CLIMATE RENAISSANCE” gathering where woman of Heart guest speaker Megan Bennett ignited new heart sparks in us.
We spent some time feeling into this Haiku by Dr Kimberly Nichols PhD:
It’s Warming. It’s Us. We’re Sure. It’s Bad.
But We Can Fix It.
Paul Hawken says “the way you heal a system is by connecting more of it, to itself. Whether it’s an ecosystem a social system or an immune system”.
In my Somatic “Accelerated Melt Program” I work with beautiful humans everyday to reveal and heal inner separations to create outer personal transformations that include planetary health. As we illuminate integrate include and transcend our inner separations into health and wholeness, we move out of fear and towards love… naturally becoming more response-ABLE. With an embodied sense of belonging and more love and health flowing… we increase our capacity to BE with, and respond to, what feels hard uncomfortable and even unbearable.
Research shows most of us REALLY care about climate change. We all get the message that our precious Earth really can’t take any more carbon. Like ANY more AT ALL. We just can’t.
We have a rising fever like a human body… our Earth is warming. We all have a responsibility and yet it can feel completely overwhelming to our nervous systems. We may dissociate…go into freeze, fight, flight, or fauning responses. It brings up our own inner separations, trauma and attachment wounds. We find it hard not to respond from these states that perpetuate separation. We may feel powerless or numb…want to avoid thinking about it…. give up or want to blow up…we imagine the worst… a tragic apocalyptic inevitable ending projected from the separations inside of ourselves…
but as we BRIDGE WITH LOVE inwardly and begin to heal our inner connections… our ability to vision and perceive new possibility for our shared future expands infinitely and creatively. We can and do emerge from old way limiting (and familiar) shame blame and “othering”, and we shift towards responsibility, opening, interconnection, innovation and co-creation.
We reclaim our power to create beautiful changes and vision heart first from the personal to the planetary. We anchor into a deeper meaning and desire to align with the health, aliveness and goodness of the system no matter the final unknowable outcome.
At our gathering we found inspiration from Dr. Ayana Elizabeth Johnson who added to our inner tides of creative heart guided action with this quote:
“The reason I’ve sort of been enamored with this term “renaissance” is because so much of the language around how we talk about climate has been war metaphors. It’s been we’re going to fight it. We’re going to defeat it. We’re going to battle climate change. As opposed to “renaissance”, which has this dual implication of being ARTISTIC and CREATIVE, but also being about REBIRTH. And I think that that is the way I want to think about our opportunities and our responsibility as far as shaping the future”
This Earth Day I invited all to bridge our inner and outer separations with LOVE, to start TALKING CLIMATE more often… with your friends family and loved ones. Share your feelings, fears and LISTEN… more than you speak…watch and feel how finding courage together to keep moving towards THE THING that’s uncomfortable…with loving presence… helps us melt through into empowering heart guided actions.
Maybe a conversation melts you through numbness into felt grief…. maybe you melt through into deciding as a family how to reduce your household garbage and limit the purchase of packaging. Maybe you do some number crunching to seriously consider an electric car, maybe you have a conversation to start exploring all that arises for you emotionally when you consider committing to less air travel or no air travel? Or how can you reduce your intake of industrial unsustainable food sources… or create sustainable practices at your place of work. Maybe your family volunteers together to plant trees… or you financially support organizations doing everything they can to create a sustainable world. Maybe you are already doing everything you can and you feel alone in it ALL.
WE NEED TO TALK CLIMATE.
Our Earth Day virtual event conversation had a profound effect on a woman half way around the world who was feeling lonely and isolated. We just never know how much these conversations truly matter. They are where great change is seeded and spark connection in polarizing overwhelming times.
From this Earth Day commit to start Talking Climate more often and stay with what’s revealed…even if it’s uncomfortable…stay with it… until it melts into forward heart led action.
